About Pinisi or Phinisi
Pinisi is a traditional sailing boat from Indonesia, which originated from Bugis and Makassar in South Sulawesi Tribe. These ships generally have two main masts and seven fruits of the screen, that is, three in the front end, two in front and two behind; commonly used for inter-islands transport of goods. Phinisi or Pinisi History
Pinisi timber ships have been used in Indonesia since several centuries ago, according to some sources, similar types have existed prior to the 1500′s. There are two types of vessels pinisi
1. Lamba or Lambo. Modern pinisi still survived until today and now equipped with diesel motors (PLM).
2. Palari. early form Pinisi with a curved hull and smaller size of this type of Lamda.
