KRI Dewaruci – The Largest Indonesian Navy Sailing Ships

KRI Dewaruci is The largest Phinisi Sailing ship ever built in Indonesia, right know this historical schooner is become cadet training ship, Naval Academy cadets, Indonesian. This ship is based in Surabaya and is the largest sailing ship owned by the Navy. This ship’s name is taken from the name of god in Javanese wayang story, namely Dewa Ruci.

Ship size and width of 58.5 meters from 9.5 meters Barquentine class was built in HC Stulchen & Sohn in Hamburg, Germany and is the only tall sailing ship that docks product in 1952 is still worthy display of the three has ever produced. Shipbuilding was begun in 1932, but stopped because of World War II when the shipyards were badly damaged its maker. The ship was finally completed in 1952 and inaugurated in 1953.

Dewaruci created in 1952 by H.C. Stulchen & Sohn of Hamburg, Germany, first launched on January 24, 1953, and in July its cadets destined for Indonesia by the Navy and Navy cadets. After that KRI Dewaruci based in Surabaya, was assigned as a training ship that sailed to the islands of Indonesia and also overseas.
