Two New Resort in Mentawai Islands

Australian investors will build two new resorts in Mentawai District Mapaddegat Hamlet, Tuapejat Village, District and Village Sipora Katurei, District of Southwest Siberut.

County Office of Tourism Mentawai participate facilitate these investment plans by providing easy business licensing, helping dialogue with land owners and various other facilities.

This step was taken after previous Mentawai Regional Government did not contribute in the development of the six resorts are now in the Mentawai. “We want to show others that the resort manager Mentawai Regional Government also supports the development of tourism by providing facilities and convenience,” said Head of Culture Department of Tourism and Culture Mentawai District, (more…)

Surfing Resort in Mentawai

West Sumatra provincial government refused if there are islands for sale abroad. According to Judas Sabaggalet the Vice Regent of the Mentawai Islands, resorts which for sale are in the Groups of Mentawai Islands.
Based on searches on August 2009, the following list are resorts that are for sale in the group of Mentawai Islands:
1. Macaroni Resort
2. Kandui Karamaijat Islan Resort
3. Silaonak Island Resort

Macaroni Resort

Macaroni Resort is located in Tanjung Sinai, Silabu Village, District of North Pagai, 6 hectare land ownership certificate on behalf Afrizal status rent by PT. Internusa Bahagia over 30 years starting in 2004.
Main Director Mark James Loughran, Australian: Siska Yuliana, Director; Commissioner Toni Masculi (Australia), Manager Yon Marjono. Permanent Business License Tourism (ITUP) issued by the Regent of the Mentawai Islands, NO; 188.45-120/2007 dated June 2.

MENTAWAI ISLANDS Three Island for Sale

Management by local government area (local government) in the archipelago again spotlighted. This time the Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (DKP) found indications of efforts to sell the islands in the Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra. Three islands, namely Pulau Macaroni, Siloinak, and Kandui, displayed with the status of the network sold on Internet via privateislandsonline.com site. “We’ve got reports and will segra act because the island is however much territory, if the sale means we sell the country,” said Director General of Marine Coastal and Small Islands (KP3K) Department of Marine and Fisheries (DKP) Alex Retraubun in SW office.

Alex said, sale island might not be allowed on the islands of Indonesia. According to him, if sales move the island, though small island, left, could create a state within a state in the Homeland. Especially if the purchase is a stranger. There is therefore no single reason that justifies the sale of islands in the Homeland area for any reason. “If the lease can, it also may not even fully occupied by tenants and must be based on state public policy in Indonesia,” he said.

Currently the site selling the famous islands, three islands in the Mentawai Islands have different price . Siloinak Island area of 9.7 hectares valued USD 1.6 million (about USD 16 billion), the island with an area of six hectares Macaroni price of EUR 4 million (about USD 40 billion Rupiah), and an area of 10.5 hectares Kandui Island at a price of USD 8 million or (about USD 80 billion Rupiah). Mentawai Islands are one of regencies in West Sumatra, Indonesia. The county is named so by the original name of geography.
